For my Digital Culture Audio Project, I will explore the FIFA gaming community as a digital culture, focusing on how digital technology shapes the way FIFA players build community, express identity, and engage in competitive gaming. The FIFA community, which has evolved alongside the popular EA Sports video game series, connects millions of players worldwide through social media interactions, competitive leagues, and platforms like Twitch and YouTube. I will use Audacity and GarageBand for recording and editing the content, incorporating gameplay sounds and interviews to capture the excitement and passion of this digital space. The project will be structured as a podcast episode with three segments: an introduction that discusses the history and growth of the FIFA community, player interviews that provide personal insights, and a final analysis that reflects on how these digital interactions influence identity, inclusivity, and social dynamics. Some challenges I anticipate include securing diverse interviewees and ensuring high-quality audio for remote recordings, which I will address through targeted outreach and careful sound editing. The audio format is ideal for this project as it allows me to blend narrative elements, interviews, and sound design to create an engaging and immersive experience. While I will be working independently, I plan to manage my time effectively to produce a high-quality project that meets the assignment requirements.
